Inspired by the landscapes that define Costa Rica—from the movement of the Pacific Ocean to the richness of its tropical forests—the project was conceived as a living expression of the country’s textures, colors, and spirit. Through a careful dialogue between architecture and interiors, the residence becomes more than a home; it becomes an experience shaped by place, craftsmanship, and the essence of Pura Vida.“
Bahías 2 began with a desire to capture something uniquely Costa Rican. Not a particular view or destination, but the feeling of moving through the country itself—through its beaches, mountains, forests, and the countless textures that define them. Inspired by the richness of the natural landscape, the project sought to transform those experiences into a home that feels both deeply rooted in place and effortlessly welcoming.
From the moment of arrival, the residence introduces a palette shaped by nature. Warm woods, natural stone, woven fibers, and handcrafted elements create an atmosphere that feels familiar and authentic, establishing an immediate connection between the architecture and its surroundings. Every material was selected not only for its beauty, but for the memories and sensations it evokes.
As the spaces unfold, the home reveals itself through layers of texture and light. Surfaces inspired by weathered coastlines, tropical vegetation, and organic forms create a sensory experience that changes throughout the day. Rather than relying on excess, the design finds richness in materiality, allowing nature to become the defining element of the interior environment.
At the heart of the residence, open social spaces bring people together. Living, dining, and gathering areas flow seamlessly from one to another, reflecting the relaxed rhythm of Costa Rican life. Designed to feel dynamic, comfortable, and family-oriented, these spaces encourage connection while maintaining a sense of ease that makes everyday living feel effortless.
That experience continues beyond the interior. Expansive terraces, outdoor lounges, and poolside environments extend the home into the landscape, blurring the boundaries between architecture and nature. Light, breeze, vegetation, and changing views become part of daily life, creating a constant dialogue between the built environment and the world beyond it.
